I do things like
- Write annual reports, communications collateral and online marketing campaigns
- Copyedit books, articles and working papers
- Proofread websites, brochures and catalogues
- Write FAQs and other Help Centre copy
- Proofread eDMs, tweets and other social media campaigns before they go out
Whatever the project, I can whip your words into shape. I can seamlessly join your in-house team when you're company has deadlines to meet and lacking in resource, or I can be your much-needed pair of fresh eyes to ensure your text is error-free and the best it can be.
How we work together
Once you've briefed me on the project, together we'll work out the best way to structure it – for writing and editing I normally charge by the hour and invoice once the job's finished. For bigger projects we can negotiate a flat fee, meaning no budgetary surprises at the end. Or you can send through small, regular work for a quick eye-over, and I'll add up the minutes and invoice you at the end of each month.
After studying English literature and European languages at university, I spent a few years working in marketing and communications, working on big-budget ad campaigns for national events and churning out snappy web copy and much-loved eDMs. I then made a foray into book publishing, most recently working as an editor at Te Papa Press, where I honed my editorial nous on everything from glossy, weighty art books to dense scientific journals. I've been working as a freelance writer and editor since 2011 for a satisfying mix of renowned national brands including Z and Fly Buys, local boutique companies such as Peoples Coffee and Enjoy Public Art Gallery, and government departments like The Treasury and NZTA.
I live with my partner Rollo and daughter Harper, and we split our time between Wellington and the rural Wairarapa.
